Montgomery is a part of the Greater Washington Metropolitan area, which consists of Washington, DC, 7 counties in Maryland, and 5 counties in Virginia with a total of 5.8 million residents. Montgomery County was established in 1777 from Frederick County and is named for Richard Montgomery, an American Revolutionary War general. Montgomery County includes 497 square miles of land area its topography is rolling with small hills. It is Maryland’s most populous jurisdiction with approximately 1 million people. The county consists of 3 cities, 12 towns, 4 villages, and 33 census-designated places, and 5 unincorporated communities. Montgomery County is the most affluent counties in the USA and second richest county in the state of Maryland. Montgomery County has a lot to offer those who visit, as well as those who live there. It boasts a great many attractions, both indoor and out.
